Hope Explored at Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Hope Explored at NTU
The NTU Hope Explored team

In the months before the birth of NTU Hope Explored, I was praying to God and seeking His direction in what He wants to accomplish through the community in NTU in this season. Weeks and months of seeking were accompanied with fervent prayer as we waited upon the Lord to reveal His plans for us. As the months went by, I chanced upon a conversation with one of our seniors who suggested we try seeking for possible new materials for our outreach.

This led me to sourced out on Christianity Explored Ministries content and discovered a short three-week series of Hope Explored which focuses on the essence of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. This felt like what we were looking for as we wanted a resource which brings the Word to the community.

Months of preparation were accompanied with corporate prayer and worship as we interceded for the needs of the community as well as the campus. In the early stages of preparation, I was worried that we won't have enough Christian students who will help out in this mission, but we praise God for opening the door for a collaboration with NTU Cru who came alongside us in this outreach mission.

Serving in Hope Explored has been one of the most fulfilling campus experiences I’ve ever had! I chanced upon the opportunity to serve and felt led by God to use my experience of salvation to bless others, especially the pre-believers. It was an amazing experience to see so many pre-believers struggle with the same questions I did less than a year ago, and to then have been equipped to answer them and bring them closer to God.

The birth of NTU Hope Explored was anchored on the mission of fulfilling the Great Commission on campus by reaching a multitude of nations with the gospel as NTU is an opportune place where students of different nationalities and backgrounds all come together to study. Throughout Hope Explored, God has brought in students from across 8 different nationalities such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Cambodia, China, India, and Czech Republic, with many of them claiming to have heard the gospel for the very first time.

My friend invited me to the club when I felt very stressed and hopeless about my academic studies on campus. I found that the sharing sessions are very meaningful because it provides me with an opportunity to get closer to God. It is the sharing session that makes me become determined to believe in God.

Indeed, we praise God for His grace for us by opening doors of opportunities for a greater unity among Christians in NTU, and for bringing the light of the gospel to a world that is in need of hope.
